Four friends sit under the Juniper Tree
Commiserating in their misery
All stressed out
And tired as can be.
Four friends sit under the Juniper Tree.

Charlene she juggles, Peggie she runs
And Barb just cracks her cars up for fun.
And Franziska she translates it all into French.
Each part, one by one.
All of them have the deepest of faiths
But still, sometimes, when they juggle and run
Translate and crack up their cars, they just don't have fun.

These four busy ladies in their four busy lives
Sometimes need to retreat, to just turn aside,
To take some refreshment, to sip from the well.
For troubles come often but God's word abides
In the love of a friend who stands by our side.

We invite you to join us under the Juniper Tree where you'll find refreshment, some words to console and a shoulder to cry on when you're feeling blue. You'll discover what keeps us going as we journey through life - the community of friends and good solid advice. Like - go take a nap, be kind to yourself, remember God loves you and so do we. Please join us under the Juniper Tree.

Sous Le Genêt Isolé

Many thanks to our dear sister in Christ, Franziska Santschi-Geiser of Sainte-Sabine Quebec, for working to make this happen. And "bienvenu" to all my french-speaking sisters and brothers!

A Summary - Un Sommaire

Bienvenue Mes Amies a Le Genêt Isolé

How It All Began

"But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24b
"Faithful are the wounds of a friend." Proverbs 27:6
"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." John 15:13
"And [Abraham] was called the friend of God." James 2:23b All references NKJV.

During the winter of 1996-1997, when things were difficult in places, letters were written that shared with friends the feelings of being down and the struggles against despair. These led to two very powerful and beautiful devotions.

Letter To Ellie
Ellie!

In these devotions you will find the seed of the Company of the Juniper Tree. Jesus said: " Come unto Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV) As Christian friends we share the yoke and the burden and we encourage each other to the rest that is ours in Christ Jesus. So, when you find yourself in an Elijah situation, we bid you come join us under the Juniper Tree. Here you will find rest and encouragement so that you can, like Elijah, hear the "still, small voice" and be refreshed to return to the world, to your ministries.

Things To Take With Us Under The Tree

Over the months we've gradually decided that we must have some candy and chocolate, several boxes of tissues, a pot of tea for Charlene (the others have coffee), a casserole of Peg's favourite pasta, and a nice loaf of fresh homemade bread. Then we're sure we need some comfortable chairs to lounge and relax on and we'd love to have a campfire to warm us at night, some music to lift us up and we wouldn't mind some wind chimes to tinkle among the leaves in the breeze. So now that we're comfortable we're ready to chat.
