I am generally a-political. I think the best government governs in such a way that it is transparent to most of us. I don't generally get involved in the political process. I ALWAYS vote because I believe that if you don't vote you have no right to complain.
Well, I voted and now I think it is time to stand up and complain. Voting in Canada is a hard thing to do. It seems that most of the time you either vote for the local person you think is going to help the constituency or you vote for the man in Ottawa (or Victoria). Sometimes we luck out and the local man belongs to the party in power. That being said, you can tell I am not any kind of a "party" man for anyone.
Now, we just had an election and the people spoke. Not loudly, but with enough force to keep the present government in power. A message that things had to be done. Now barely a month later we have the combined opposition parties trying to overturn that decision, saying nothing has been done. It reminds me of the kids in the car on a trip "Are we there yet?". I don't remember a choice on the ballot for "Liberal, NDP, Bloc" with a box behind it.
There is an on-line poll here http://canadians4democracy.ca/ asking Canadians to stand up and be heard in this backroom coalition government deal.
There is another one here: http://www.petitiononline.com/CANADIAN/petition.html
I am also going to put an informal poll on the home page.
