Mary's Lunchroom

This is a spot near the west end of the Army Road named after Mary Skribe, a wonderful lady that set up feeding stations for squirrels, birds and any other creatures that happened along. She would carry food in two or three times a week right up until her health started to fail and she had to stop. She died shortly thereafter; over 80 years old.

Mary's Lunchroom is close
to the western boundary
of the Nature Park and is a
good spot to take a break
from hiking or biking
and have a bite to eat.

"Thumper's Place" reads the old sign
on the tree, referring to one of the small animals that used to come to Mary's Lunchroom for a snack. We no longer
feed wildlife in the Nature Park, realizing that such activities can upset natural balances. Instead we try to minimize
human impacts on the Park to ensure that the habitat stays healthy and able to support a wide variety of creatures.
